The Belmont Report gave guidelines and recommendations for the protection of humans who were involved in health research. This paper aims to explore the ethical implications on Undocumented Aliens in the United States.
The issue of undocumented aliens and healthcare has been a matter of discussion for some time. Different stakeholders have different opinions on this matter though, in a debate held in Brandies University in 2012 by the International Center for Ethics Justice and Public Life, the difference came out very clearly ADDIN CSL_CITATION {"citationItems":[{"id":"ITEM-1","itemData":{"URL":"/ethics/ethicalinquiry/2012/March.html","accessed":{"date-parts":[["2018","5","29"]]},"author":[{"dropping-particle":"","family":"Inst","given":"International Center for Ethics Justice and Public Life","non-dropping-particle":"","parse-names":false,"suffix":""}],"id":"ITEM-1","issued":{"date-parts":[["2012"]]},"title":"Ethical Inquiry","type":"webpage"},"uris":["/documents/?uuid=c8dc2bd0-a23e-3b43-8aa7-f0a14e9a5334"]}],"mendeley":{"formattedCitation":"(Inst, 2012)","manualFormatting":"(International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life, 2012)","plainTextFormattedCitation":"(Inst, 2012)","previouslyFormattedCitation":"(Inst, 2012)"},"properties":{"noteIndex":0},"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"}(International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life, 2012). The argument came down to a matter of Human rights or a matter of legal obligations, my take as a professional is undocumented aliens should have a right to health care. This is because we are foremost human before any legal obligation. This care should be paid for by the taxes then after access to health care, the due process of following up on the legal process can follow.
Turning in illegal immigrants to authorities is necessary but only after the person has been given the necessary health care if their condition is life-threatening. Since not all members of the public are health professionals, I feel it is only right to leave the role of determining whether an illegal migrant should receive required health care or not. In doing so, we will be able to live within the legal restrictions and also the ethical values.
Conclusion
Caring for undocumented aliens has more benefits to the country such as capital income among many others ADDIN CSL_CITATION {"citationItems":[{"id":"ITEM-1","itemData":{"DOI":"10.1001/virtualmentor.2008.10.4.oped1-0804","abstract":"There are legal, ethical, and financial arguments for providing nonemergency and preventiv...
