Abstract
There is no doubt that physical education offers many benefits the participants in numerous ways. However, these benefits don’t come naturally as a result of engaging in rigorous activities but rather through carefully designed programs. It is therefore not enough to tell students to walk around the field or do something rigorous. It is in light of these that higher educational facilities should make physical education compulsory. This paper explains why it is important for the institutions to make physical education compulsory.

Physical education should be made compulsory in institutions of higher learning because it offers many benefits to the participants. First, it reduces the risk of heart diseases. Many research findings have gone ahead to confirm this. The research propose that the rigorous activity counteract the risk factors of coronary heart diseases. Consequently, the participants become healthier and can offer a steady work flow. Secondly, physical education increases the participation of the participants in all their activities. Through it, the students become active, fit and healthy thus lead healthy lifestyles in and outside school. As a result the participants become comfortable with themselves. When they accomplish their studying years they leave the school confident members who can handle a number of issues. This is an indication that physical education will positively impact the future of our country.
Thirdly, physical education plays a major role in making the students healthier. This is because physical education makes the bones, mind and bodies of the students stronger. It has been shown that physical education strengthens and stimulates the brains. Consequently, the participants have improved success in academics.
