There has been a significant change in healthcare for the past hundred years. Hospitals have shown a gradual chronological progression in the past hundred years. This gradual change attributes to diverse factors in the health sector. The key factor is the emergence of new diverse diseases as Charney (2009) wrote. The modern society manifests sufferers from new breeds of infections as compared to the ancient society. New infections have become prevalent due to climate and lifestyle changes, among other factors. In this case, the hospital industry had to adjust medical services through scientific inquiries (Jennings, Gray, Sharpe, & Fleischman, 2004). The gradual scientific adjustments account for the significant difference in hospitals today. Complexities in institutionalization and introduction of preventive health techniques are two key factors that distinguish current and past hospitals.
