Today, technology has now become an integral part of medicine. The use of technology has positively influenced quality healthcare by improving access to medical information and data and promoting telemedicine.
Technology has significantly improved access to medical information and data in hospitals. Before introducing technology to healthcare operations, there was much paperwork involved in keeping records that were never safe since most data were easily misplaced or lost (Carayon, 2016). However, technology has become a positive turn of events, where vital information is now safely stored and shared among healthcare professionals and easily retrieved when needed. For instance, the intranet and the internet have facilitated the rapid sharing of medical information among healthcare personnel, ensuring more efficient patient care. The reduced paperwork in keeping records by technology has enabled patients' medical records' safekeeping by embracing electronic healthcare records (Carayon, 2016). Electronic medical record keeping has enabled centralized storage and retrieval of patients' records and faster and easier medical billing. Furthermore, easy access to medical information ensures easy access to each specific patient's records for an easy prescription of relevant medicine to particular illnesses and proper referrals of patients when necessary without error or confusion. Therefore, easy access to medical information ensures the accord of appropriate medical care to all patients.
