Mental and disability health service providers play a significant role in the peoples’ lives with disabilities however their offered services do not address the parents’ needs. Federal legislation mandates family-centered early intervention services in which parental participation programs appear to be more effective than those programs that disregard their role as parents. Early intervention and prevention programs provide significant support to parents with disabilities and their families since it gives positive effects on children in particular with the cognitive and language outcomes.
There are some state agencies and organizations available for children with special needs such as “Head Start Center for Inclusion-resources for Families”, “National Council on Disability (NCD)" and “Family Voices”.
