Growing up, I was a devoted caregiver for my neighborhood; advocating for those in need. Everyone in the community referred to me as their nurse. Nursing has been my dream; I deem nursing a calling, which I must answer. I have a passion for the profession. Countless individuals like Florence Nightingale, who responded to her calling, became the pioneer for modern nursing. I enrolled in Louisiana Technical College Licensed Practical Nursing Program. There were several challenges, but my love for nursing saw me through. Although I am a single mother who works part-time and studies also, I still have time for my patients. Impacting positively on my patients always puts a smile on my face; this is where I derive my most excellent satisfaction.
For me, becoming a nurse is not for monetary benefits. Being part of such professions and practicing gave me the peace of mind and satisfaction. My role is to care for the sick or infirm, helping them to preserve optimal health. No patient should go unattended because of his or her financial status.
