Interview with a Family Nurse Practitioner
I had an opportunity to interview a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). This is a professional who works in a family clinic based at the city centre. For one to qualify for such a position, one must have at least a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing, possess good communication, counseling and leadership skills and have all the state and national certifications. Besides, one must be privy with the professional codes of ethics in nursing.
As a professional, FNP is charged with the role of providing prescriptions, giving tests, counseling and referring patients suffering from diseases like common cold, asthma, allergies, skin rushes and High Blood Pressure.
