Primary Prevention in Health Promotion
Health promotion can be defined as the process of enabling individuals to alter their control over their health and well-being and its determinants via health literacy programs and multi-sectoral efforts to modify healthy behaviors (Brandes et al., 2021). The approach comprises measures for the entire community as well as those at heightened risk of negative health outcomes. Health promotion frequently targets behavioral risk factors, such as cigarette use, obesity, food, and individual inactivity, as well as mental health, loss prevention, drug abuse control, alcohol management, HIV-related sexual health, and health behavior.
Preventive measures in national wellness and health promotion. The preventive model underpins the health promotion model. There are three levels of prevention: primary, secondary, and tertiary. Turco et al. Fuster (2018) argue that primary prevention is defined as "measures to reduce the frequency and presence of ill health." Tobacco control measures include, for example, workplace regulations that prohibit smoking, a ban on smoking advertisements in all media, and the implementation of government laws that can assist individuals in making "healthy choices." Strategies, for example, are frequently referred to as "upstream" strategies since they focus on developing excellent national policy. Lower preventive tries to discover and treat this disease before symptoms appear - for instance, cervical cancer screenings (Rojas et al., 2022). Tertiary prevention tries to reduce the impact of the disease on the suffering patient, such as the implementation of cardiac rehab programs for individuals with cardiovascular disease (Turco et al., 2018).
The primary preventative is "health promotion and sufficient security." The primary goal of preventive, in particular, is to halt the progression of the disease and to focus on therapies that will allow a person to live a normal life (Brandes et al., 2021). "Its goal is to reduce a person or a population's vulnerability to illness or pathology." Nurses must play a role in promoting preventative and appropriate therapies in order to increase patient well-being. Primary prevention necessitates two more subdivisions: promoting health and welfare protection.
According to Rojas et al. (2022), prevention takes place at the primary, tertiary, and secondary levels: Important prevention promotes well-being while also protecting against dangers to well-being. It keeps problems from occurring in the first place. It either promotes resilience and preventive components or minimizes condition and health risk exposure. Primary prevention is used before a problem arises. It mostly targets large populations.
Main prevention promotes well-being while also protecting it against dangers to well-being. It keeps problems from occurring in the first place. It either promotes resilience and defensive components or minimizes condition and health risk exposure. Primary prevention is used before a problem arises. It mostly targets large populations. Primary prevention increases well-being by, for example, developing assets in children, or it prevents issues from occurring by, for example, immunizing against vaccine-preventable illnesses (Magnusson et al., 2020).
