Instructions:

Evolving Practice of Nursing and Patient Care Delivery Models
Please read the instructions carefully.
Details:
The RN to BSN program meets the requirements for clinical competencies as defined by CCNE and AACN using nontraditional experiences for practicing nurses. These experiences come in the form of direct and indirect care experiences in which licensed nursing students engage in learning within the context of their hospital organization, their specific care discipline (Primary care adult population) and their local communities.
As the country focuses on the restructuring of the U.S. health care delivery system, nurses will continue to play an important role. It is expected that more and more nursing jobs will become available out in the community, and fewer will be available in acute care hospitals.
1. Write an informal presentation (500-700 words) to educate nurses about how the practice of nursing is expected to grow and change. Include the concepts of continuity or continuum of care, accountable care organizations (ACO), medical homes, and nurse-managed health clinics.

Proposed changes in the nursing industry and their effect on nursing practice
According to the nursing bodies such as ACCN, the graduating nursing activities and the national voice for baccalaureate has a firm believe that education significantly affects the competencies and knowledge of nurses as it does to all other health care professionals. They argue that nurses who hold a degree in nursing are well set to meet their expectation. Nurses with BNS are highly regarded due to their skills in leadership, managing cases, health promotion, critical thinking as well as their capability to offers services both in inpatient and outpatient environment (Cheney et al., 2008). All the groups connected to nursing such as minority nurse advocacy, magnet hospitals, the military, prized nursing organizations, nurse executives, and federal agencies have a particular value that baccalaureate nurses have the ability to bring the practice environment.
The AACN recommendation is that employers should enable a real practice setting that encourages long life learning as well motivating all registered nurses who are in their path of advancing their education levels to that of baccalaureate and higher degrees. In addition, AACN gives encouragement to BSN nurses to look for employers who can provide value to their studies (Hardin-Pierce, 2005).
The new baccalaureate nursing program that is to be introduced in the nursing department requires all the nurses to apply the techniques taught both in degree and diploma programs and also have a sound knowledge of physical treatment, community health, nursing research and public health as well as nursing humilities and management. In addition, the coursework taught should enable the nurses to be able to identify and deal with political, cultural, social and economic issues affecting patients and that may have an impact on the quality of health care offered. Both the all the stakeholders in the healthcare industry have recognized the importance of education and proposed several changes to occur in the nursing practice. In 2012, there was a joint statement that was supported by the AACN, AACC, ACC, NLN and NOADN that was based on academic progression for nursing graduates and students (Spetz et al., 2013). The goal of this statement was to have a prepared and educated nursing workforce. The statement was a representation of shared views that anybody taking nursing should be offered all the necessary support needed to pursue higher educational levels.
From the survey conducted to identify the impressions of healthcare nurses about proposed changes in nursing indicated that the number of nurses currently seeking BSN has raised to 3043 compared to the initial value of 1984 in 2008. The amount represented 74% of the total number of RN's perusing BSN. 46% of the respondents prefer BSN hiring policy while 31% of the respondents has no formal policy of hiring as indicated in the figure below
