1 INTRODUCTION
Nutrition and cardiovascular diseases is an aspect that can hinder many people in reaching their full potential. These diseases are the leading cause of death in many households especially in developed countries and they are among the major diseases affected by diet. Nutrition can affect these diseases by causing vascular plagues accumulation and indirectly regulating aging rate (Brandhorst & Longo, 2019). Nutritional considerations of these diseases are not entirely understood in day to day clinical practice. Therefore, a large population of patients suffering from these diseases can be under diagnosed with malnutrition. It has been shown that many patients who are undernourished have increased the rate of complications, long stay in hospitals, lower quality of life, and frequent hospital visits (Boban et al., 2019). Is focus on nutrition only playing a big role in preventing heart diseases? In this research project, the role of nutrition in the prevention of cardiovascular heart diseases is explored in detail. The relevant research linking these diseases and nutrition will focus on balanced diet, benefits of nutrition in prevention, an overview of heart diseases and its spread and risk factors. It will also explore heart disease monitoring and diagnostic testing, treatment, recommended diet, nursing assessment and interventions, patient counseling, follow ups, and opinions based on experiences.

i.)What is nutrition?
Nutrition is a word that first appeared in the year 1551 and it is derived from the word nutrire which means “to nourish.” Currently, nutrition is defined as all processes that are involved in the manner in which organisms including human beings are obtaining nutrients, metabolizing them, and using them in supporting life. It is the process in which humans and animals obtain food necessary for growth. The study of nutrition focuses on the effect of nourishment in health; inadequate nutrition affects the function of the human body and can cause chronic diseases and even death (Schmitz, 2012).
