The Hospital’s mission is to improve the general health of patients and community at large by ensuring outstanding care and service is offered.
Vision
To be an integrated healthcare, that is nonprofit making the organization. Woodland Healthcare will provide exemplary primary and specialty care in major parts of Yolo County. The Memorial Hospital and its medical clinics will strive to give the safest and high-quality medical attention. That will be possible through a healing environment that makes use of state of the art technology and offers appealing facilities whose location and accessibility is convenient. The hospital will be known and respected for its capability to attract and retain highly qualified and experienced physicians and staff. The Hospital will use centers of excellence locally to provide comprehensive medical care to each patient (Dignity Health, 2010). That will be made possible by use of a regional distributive strategy and collaborating with other providers and Dignity Health for smooth medical service delivery.

The core values of the Hospital concerns provision of affordable health care services of highest quality to the entire community. The Hospital values the following:

The hospital is nonprofit making organization and hence has not been keen on reaching many people but rather its emphasis is on quality medical care (Dignity Health, 2010). Thus, the small-scale operation has resulted to low revenue generation by the hospital for an extended period.
Significant resources and competencies
The primary resources relied on by the hospital come from the donor funding and hence in case of donor withdrawal the hospital would be in crisis. The hospital boasts of many competencies; first of all, the hospital has the most qualified and experienced physicians (Dignity Health, 2010). Secondly the hospital uses highly advanced equipment in terms of technology leading to more efficiency in service delivery.
Internal value chain of the organization
The hospital has centralized many medical services to one place. For instance cancer treatment, cardiac treatment and surgery are all provided by the hospital without referring patients to other locations (Dignity Health, 2011). The variety of medical services offered thus creates a long internal value chain within the hospital and hence making it a better option to many patients suffering from different diseases.
Organization’s most significant strengths
The Hospital has got the most qualified and experienced physicians and staff and hence quality medical services are guaranteed. The High quality creates a brand that makes most clients to be loyal to the hospital (Dignity Health, 2011). Furthermore, the hospital has integrated doctors, medical offices, and surgery center making it more convenient to patients to access all physician services at one point without having to be referred to other hospitals.
Organization’s most significant weaknesses
The Hospital has few bed capacity compared to many patients who need to be admitted The Hospital has less than 100 beds yet many patients come in daily in critical condition. The fewer bed capacity leads to referral of some patients to another hospital for admission (Dignity Health, 2011). That lowers the revenue generated by the hospital and hence makes the hospital less competitive in comparison to other hospitals with vast bed capacities.
Community surrounding the organization
The hospital is affected by a community comprising of Doctors and Nurses who are in charge of providing treatment services through laboratories, pharmacies and consultation. Support staff, on the other hand, enhances the efficiency of hospital operation by providing essential services such as cleaning and manning security (Dignity Health, 2010). The management supervises and coordinates the entire functioning of Woodland Memorial Hospital while the patients are the primary clients to the Hospital.
External factors affecting the organization
Economics
The hospital is small and hence suffers from diseconomies of scale in terms of procuring medical facilities. Thus, the cost of purchasing medicine and equipment is high, and that translates to a high cost of treatment at the hospital.
Demographics
The hospital is strategically located and hence receives a good number of patients. However, due to the small bed capacity the hospital cannot contain the large patient population and hence most inpatients are referred to other competing hospitals.
Competitors
The hospital faces competition from hospitals such as Stanford Hospital and Clinics and UCLA medical center. The competition arises from the vast capacity on which the competitors operate (Dignity Health, 2010).
