Stress Concept Analysis
Concept analysis has the fundamental purpose of distinguishing between concepts and providing clarifications on their characteristics. While concept labels may be similar across disciplines, separating any disciplinary perspectives on the concept is essential in guiding nursing research as well as professional practice development (Cronin et al., 2010).
The Concept of Stress
The phenomenon of stress is faced by everyone every day and has been termed as an actual normal part of life. It is a feeling people get as they struggle to cope with various demands that can be related to health, work, finances, relationships or other situations. Stress levels vary depending on the situation. In healthcare, physiologic as well as psychological concerns can have an impact on stress, and an understanding of the concept enables nurses and other practitioners to provide holistic care that meets all patient needs.
Purpose
Purpose determination in concept analysis enables the focus to be placed on the intended end result (Walker and Avant, 2011). This analysis aims at analyzing the stress concept through Walker and Avant’s method of concept analysis where uses will be identified, defining attributes determined, a model, similar and opposite cases created. Antecedents and consequences will also be identified as well as the empirical methods that can be utilized in measuring this concept.
