Instructions:

Write a 4-5 page evidence-based proposal to support the need for a nurse
informaticist in an organization who would focus on improving health care
outcomes.
Introduction
As you begin to prepare this assessment, you are encouraged to complete the
Team Perspectives of the Nurse Informaticist activity. Completion of this will help
you succeed with the assessment as you explore the nurse informaticist's role
from the different perspectives of the health care team. Completing activities is
also a way to demonstrate engagement.
Nurses at the baccalaureate level in all practice areas are involved in nursing
informatics through interaction with information management and patient care
technologies. Nurses must not only demonstrate knowledge of and skills in
health information and patient care technologies, but also how to use these tools
at the bedside and organizational levels. Moreover, nurses need to recognize
how information gathered from various health information sources can impact
decision making at the national and state regulatory levels.

and ePortfolios contribute to lifelong learning and growth through reflection and
sharing. Online ePortfolios can also be shared with employers and peers to
present artifacts that demonstrate your accomplishments at Capella.

Nursing Informatics is a growing and exciting area of healthcare. Over the last decade, nursing has grown dramatically, including technology. One definition defines nurse informatics as "the science behind managing clinical data" (Backonja et al., 2021). With advances in computing technology and information communication networks, nurses increasingly depend upon computers for patient care documentation. Computerized medical records allow nurses to access patients' health histories, medications, lab results, vital signs, progress notes, and discharge instructions (Byrne, 2021). As computerization progresses further into healthcare, it will be easier to efficiently manage large amounts of data.

The role of the nurse informaticist

Nurses need nursing informatics to provide optimal patient care. Nurse practice-changing rapidly due to new technologies. Nurses need to understand current trends to continue providing excellent patient care. Informaticians play a vital role in keeping nurses abreast of recent developments in medical sciences. Informatics helps reduce errors and saves valuable time through automation (Byrne, 2021).
Most importantly, informatics gives nurses a real advantage over non-informatician physicians. Nurses can perform clinical tasks more effectively by learning basic computer literacy skills. Furthermore, computers offer opportunities for self-learning and development. Medical records must be kept safe and secure during transit. This data needs to be stored efficiently and accessible quickly to healthcare providers working in different settings across the country (Byrne, 2021). To meet these requirements, informatics professionals develop solutions to support electronic recordkeeping systems. Many hospitals have already implemented e-records systems, but there remains room for improvement.

Nurse Informaticists and Other Health Care Organizations

Experience in other health care organizations with nurse informaticists
The importance of nurses in hospitals cannot be underestimated. Nurses play an essential role in patient safety. They ensure quality nursing services through monitoring the patient's condition and providing timely interventions if any problems arise. Their primary duty is to provide safe, high-quality nursing care for every patient and protect them against infection or injury (Courtney, 2021). In addition, nurses should meet standards set out by the organization, government agencies or professional associations and follow the rules of law and ethics while delivering service to patients. For these tasks, nurses rely heavily on medical devices that support the provision of accurate data collection and analysis. Nurse informatics professionals help nurses deliver effective clinical practices. Hence, the profession of informatics offers immense benefits for nurses and hospital administration (Garcia-Dia, 2021).

How Nurse informaticists interact with the rest of the nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team

Nursing informatics is a field that is developing at a rapid pace in Australia and internationally, and nurses are working closely with informaticists. Informatics experts can be distinguished according to their skillset (solving problems with informatic skills) and working with other information science professions to achieve their overall goal (collaboration). Besides, they can work with medical practitioners to design, implement and evaluate informatics systems and tools (collaboration) (Garcia-Dia, 2021). They work as a team and help the nurses to manage the work efficiently and effectively. They also help to find out the problems and issues in nurses' work and help them solve them. The informaticists have an important role in the team because they can manage all the patient data. The informaticists also help the team to manage the information flow. The informaticists help the team to make decisions. The informaticists help the team to make the right decisions. The informaticists are very important to the team.
