The task was about nursing theories, I was required to choose one nursing theory and I choose interpersonal relations. The sample is about the relationship between patients and nursing caring for them. Peplau the nurse who came up with the theory gives her personal experience ofe how she was not allowed to speak to the patients. In her theory, she says it is important for patients and nurses to relate so as to provide better care to the patients.

 Theories are anticipated general form of thinking or an articulated and communicated concept discovered reality relating to nursing for the sole resolve of prescribing, describing and predicting the health care provided by nurses (Spray, 2009). The theories in the nursing department guide nurses on how to find the facts instead of attaining goals. A good example of the nursing theories is the theory of Interpersonal relations developed by Hildegard Peplau. Peplau developed the interpersonal relations model based on psychodynamic nursing to help others identify their difficulties through their own behaviors (Spray, 2009). The theory emphasizes on the relationship between clients and nurses as the nursing practice foundation. Peplau was an educator, researcher and one of the staff nurses at Pennsylvania hospital (Spray, 2009). The theory of interpersonal relations urges nurses to take advantage of the nursing situations as a learning platform through observation to derive unique nursing concept.
The theories’ major concerns are the conditions of the psychiatric patient wards especially the patient asylums in the early 1940 to 1950s. During the early nursing career of Peplau, she was never allowed to talk to the patients (Spray, 2009). She referred to the early version of the interpersonal relation theory as talking to patients and later transformed to therapeutic interpersonal relation theory.
