Civil Rights Movement (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

The task was to write a summary of the civil rights movement in America from the 1950s to the 1970s, with a focus on the struggles and achievements of black Americans during this time. The summary should be around 300 words in length.
During the civil rights era, black Americans fought for fair treatment under the law, particularly in the face of segregation and violence. They organized and fought for their rights for almost 20 years, culminating in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1957. This Act extended voting rights to all Americans, regardless of race, and helped to break down the divisions between black and white Americans.

The civil rights movement had a significant impact on the lives of black Americans, giving them the opportunity to express their rights as citizens and to participate in the military and other aspects of society from which they had previously been excluded. The struggle for equality and liberty was difficult but ultimately successful, and helped to pave the way for a more inclusive society.
