While people still debate on the causes of the Civil War, the Civil War started due to inevitable differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to avoid slavery in various territories (Jno, 2014). There are various causes of the civil war. The Civil War was caused by Economic and social differences between North and South America. The differences were due to demand more cheap labour, slaves, due to movement from other crops to cotton. The South focused more on plantation system while the North focused significantly on city life.
Among the causes were States versus Federal rights, the fight involving Slave and Non-Slave State Protagonists, growth of the ways of abolishing slavery, and the election of Abraham Lincoln as a president since they believed that he was anti-slavery and laid more on the northern interests. People feared discredit of democracy and breaking of the United States into small countries (Allan, 2013).
