Metro Politics
A city is a commerce and administrative hub within a country. Cities are therefore industrial hubs that a country designates within particular geographical regions. City competition refers to the legal structures, policy instruments and institutions that work coherent towards a sustainable productivity of a country (Ni, 2012). City competition wholesomely looks at the social, biological, environmental, technological and economic advantages that some countries have over others. The productivity of a city must address the long term goals of the country.
The first factor that affects competition amongst cities is social change. People from different parts of a country meet in the cities. Here, they blend there cultural practices in the cities. Through acculturation the residents of a city come up with a sort of a culture; the county’s culture (Ni, 2012). Countries thus compete to have the unique culture to attract tourists. This factor can only be mitigated through benchmarking. That is, residents of Rio de Janeiro can acculturate the residents of Illinois on how they prepare their meals.
