The Frontline premieres through an epic analysis of the reasons that influenced Russian President Vladimir Putin and the world to the brutal invasion of Ukraine. As the invasion intensified, approximately two million Ukrainians were forced to flee their country, becoming refugees in different nations. The attack has gained much interest from the United States intelligence agencies and other diplomats, journalists, historians, and Russian politicians. All aim to define the circumstances that shaped the Russian President's life and leadership style and analyze the forces behind Putin's launch of a risky and life-threatening war with Ukraine.
"Putin's Road to War "hence narrates the life of Vladimir Putin, therefore, exposing the use of his personal history as well as political influences as the laying foundation for the global war. "The Russian leader sees this as a war he cannot afford to lose." (FRONTLINE, 52:22- 52:28). The documentary examines how Putin moved from a low-ranking KGB agent to a dictatorial, long-serving President in Russia who almost brought Europe to a blink of death-threatening nuclear war. The President has the power noted by the willingness to employ extreme violence and force, using the war as his internal and external repression tool. "It seemed almost as if Putin had drawn up a plan a long time in advance, and now he had finally decided to execute it. It was not the war of the Russian people against the Ukrainian people. Instead, it is Vladimir Putin's war" ( FRONTLINE, 4:40- 4:58). The war has hence had various implications for the two countries and the rest of the world. Analysis
Russia's war with Ukraine is dated as the most significant war since world war II in Europe. It is a war that Putin had been building for years and is determined to build an empire. Putin had nothing to stop him from his already build up decision. As he discusses the matter at a conference, Putin gives authoritative commands to his officers concerning the war rather than discussing it democratically. The deadly "Putin's war" would employ air, land, and sea attacks. His road to war dates from a young age as a KGB officer. He had the skilled power to detect enemies and threats to the empire. The KGB was a particular unit that was well known for producing violence, responsible for political surveillance, and every activity was run by it. As a KGB officer, Putin was given his first assignment in counterintelligence rather than undercover espionage. Putin is said to have led a secret life, hence being referred to as the man without a face. "He's an unhappy man. He has wanted to be a secret agent all of his life, as long as he can remember." ( FRONTLINE, 6:46-6:54). As many individuals viewed the fall of the Soviet Union as a victory for democracy and the moral force of their values, Putin viewed the collapse as a humiliation. Everything he had known growing up disappeared as the ancient empire collapsed. Consequently, the occurrences shaped him and his life into his person. He became determined to restore all that had been lost in his view.
Putin began to rise to power reforming from a KGB officer to a bureaucratic fixer and a political official. Putin earned the first Russian President's confidence, Boris Yeltsin, by the late '90s. Yeltsin promoted Putin to a higher position as Putin convinced him to share his democratic ideas. As soon as the President fired his entire cabinet, Putin was appointed the prime minister, the second most powerful man in the country after the President. Having gained power, Putin had a chance to demonstrate mighty Russia after bombing an apartment in Moscow. He struck Chechnya with massive force. A few months later, Putin was inaugurated as Russia's President, reassuring the Russian people of strength and power. "I assure you that there will be no vacuum of power, not for a minute." ( FRONTLINE, 14:49-14:54 ). Since then, he proved his strength in various ways and incidents. To him, everything could be manipulated.
