The First World War had a Profound Effect on Civilization
The worst war in history, according to some estimates, was World War I, which claimed many lives. This incident occurred after the death of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and it lasted from 1914 until 1918. Because of the aid offered by Britain and her empire, this war was conducted on a previously inconceivable scale. Fighting also took place on the Western Front in addition to conflicts in Africa, the Middle East, and eastern and southern Europe. It started as a result of human choices and deeds (Ross, 1998).
Soldiers attacked civilians in areas where they operated, killing several of them. Attacks on civilians increased as each nation sought to weaken its rivals' internal resolve and lessen public support for the conflict. The Russian Empire, the USA, and the Ottoman Empire were among the main European states that took part in the battle, along with a number of African, Middle Eastern, and Asian nations. Up to 5 million civilians died as a result of military occupation, besieging, famine, and disease during what is undoubtedly the most horrifyingly horrible fight in history, while an estimated 9 million troops died in battle (Ross, 1998).
