South Dakota Verse Dole
It was a case where the United States Supreme Court regarded the various limitations that the constitution has on United States Congress when Congress tries to utilize its power to influence citizens where States should be in authority (Dietary, 2018). The results from the case diminished state power by not letting them change the National Minimum Drinking Age Act. The national government had to penalize States that refused to adopt the current legal drinking age of 21 years, and the national government had to give transportation grants that withheld certain specifications.
United States Verse Lopez
United States verse Lopez was the case on Gun-Free Zones Act was found to be unconstitutional as it overstepped the congressional line of the Commerce Clause. The outcome of this case preserved the structure of federalism, and it upholds that states have control of local issues (Neumann, 2020). Lopez was guilty and sentenced to six months, followed by a two-year supervised release.
United States Verse Morrison
This case focused on an alleged sexual assault that Antonio Morrison committed, and his consequences were under the Violence Against Women Act of 1994. This case diminished the state's authority since it was determined that Congress had, without any jurisdiction, exceeded its power by trying to give a private right of action (Born & Rutledge, 2022). The courts concluded that Congress lacked constitutional power to impose section 13981.
