The Marshall Plan was an initiative that was formed to provide aid to Western Europe after the end of world war 11. The plan also intended to reduce communism influence in the European economies. Containment, on the other hand, was a policy that was formed to prevent the spread of communism. It also ensured that the Americans were aware of all the events that were taking place in the world (Robinson, 2019). Strategic Defense Initiative was a proposal that aimed to protect the United States from missile attack by ballistic strategic nuclear weapons.
The Marshall policy played an essential role in preventing communist expansion through President Truman pledge. He pledged that the United States would help only nations that resisted communism, and this move significantly reduced communist growth. The containment strategy of providing more funds to the struggling countries and cutting off nations such as China and North Korea that practised communism was an excellent move that helped in preventing communism (Ilyin, 2016). The United States was hostile to soviet leaders due to their communist ideology that the United States opposed. It, therefore, presented a technological challenge to the Soviet Union that it could not meet and this helped in preventing communist expansions.
