Indigenous societies established and developed themselves in their territory before the onset of colonialism, hence seeing themselves as unique and distinct to other communities that reside in their territory. The indigenous communities that existed before the historical pre-invasion period had their own set of civilizations. Some of the most sophisticated ancient civilization includes the Maya. Inca, Aztec, and Olmec. An ancient civilization is historically considered to be highly sophisticated. Indigenous people are considered the first people to possess a particular land and live there. Most indigenous people had complex civilization systems, agricultural systems, and the use of technology. The Mayan of Mesopotamia, Aztec, and the Inca of native America is a good example. The Mayan civilization is considered one of the most sophisticated in ancient civilization's history and astronomy, architectural building construction, and mathematics.
Ancient civilizations entail the stable communities that resided first in an indigenous place and later formed empires, kingdoms, and other states. Most indigenous civilizations invented writing, technology in agriculture, architectural constructions, and complex leadership systems. The ancient civilization existed before the colonization of the world by European countries such as Spain. The Mayans of Mesopotamia, for instance, played a significant contribution in the field of astronomy and mathematics due to their development and inventions (Nooren et al., 2017). The Aztecs used advanced agricultural techniques that ensured high production. The Inca had a sophisticated social structure. However, the Mayans, Inca, and the Aztecs were conquered by the Spanish, who took their lands. The discussion, therefore, provides an in-depth analysis of the sophisticated civilizations of indigenous groups and how Spain came to conquer their land.
The Mayans are indigenous people that inhabited Mesoamerica. The Mayans are the people of Mexico and the central part of America who have continued to live in the Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco, and Chiapas, as well as some parts of Hondur (Nooren et al., 2017). The Mayans intrigued the continent with their form of civilization. They originated from the Yucatan area, which acted as their centralization center. The Mayans continue to live in the area around Yucatan in the present day. In the olden days, the term Maya was not used to describe the people in that area. This is because the people lacked a distinct sense of political organization despite having one of the most sophisticated and complex civilizations in the world's history.
