IT Teamwork Department name, Institution name Course number: Course name Instructor’s name Due date IT Teamwork The two sources of information selected are books published in 2022 and 2021 that effectively discuss the features of successful high-performance and world-class teams. The paper will explore the similarities and differences between the characteristics of an effective high-performance team summarized or listed in Figure 4.6 provided for the assignment and these two sources. Moreover, it will create a list of the attributes required for a team to be effective and efficient. The first source of information selected is “We're All in This Together: Creating a Team Culture of High Performance, Trust, and Belonging” by Mike Robbins, which explains five characteristics of effective high-performance and world-class teams. The first attribute is the psychology safety, meaning the group can take risks without feeling embarrassed or insecure. The second is dependability, so the group members can count on one another to deliver high-quality work. The third is the structure and clarity-clear team execution plans f roles and goals. The fourth is the meaning of work; the group task must be important for each member personally. Lastly is the impact of work; members believe they do what matters (Robbins, 2022, p. 5). Comparing the source and the list from Figure 4.6 shows that the structure and clarity is the only similar characteristic, and the remaining attributes from Mike Robbin's book are absent. The second source is “Organizational Behavior, Theory, and Design in Health Care," a book that Nancy Borkowski and Katherine A. Meese authored. Some of the features the authors explained are clear and open communication, effective decision makings, valuing diversity, balanced participation, a positive atmosphere, and managing conflicts (Borkowski & Meese, 2021, p. 344). The source has similar characteristics of setting up effective high-performance and world-class teams with those discussed in Figure 4.6 for the assignment. These common attributes include open and clear communication, participation, conflict management, effective decision-making, and structural diversification of team members. While the authors mentioned the positive atmosphere as a core trait of setting high-performance groups, the list does not contain this characteristic. Civilized disagreements in the list from Figure 4.6 is the book's managing conflict. Below are the characteristics needed for a team to be efficient and effective: * Psychology safety: The team can take risks without feeling insecure or embarrassed. * Dependability: Group members should depend on each other to function effectively. * Structure and clarity: There should be a clear definition of purpose, goals, and tasks for each member. * Meaning of work: The task must be important for each member personally. * Positive atmosphere: This requires a climate of trust, and members come together feeling relaxed and execute tasks in a friendly environment. * Clear Purpose: The team has an action plan, and there is an excellent definition of the group's mission, vision, or goal. * Informality: The setting is comfortable and informal, and absence of boredom ...
