Introduction
The criminal justice system continues to play a crucial role in contemporary American society. Prison forms a relevant component of the system since they are involved in rehabilitating offenders in the country. As such, the prisons must undertake their functions while observing the highest standard of professionalism. The proper running of the prison ascertains that the criminal justice system performs accordingly. Indeed, the role of the system in promoting the quality of life across society is apparent. However, in recent years, various scandals involving the prison system in the country remain evident. Various ethical and legal violations are evident in the scandals that continue to limit the reputation and integrity of the prisons. An analysis of a prison scandal is undertaken in this report to exhibit the various violations committed within the prison system. The roles of correctional officers in such activities are also examined to develop a proper understanding of the factors contributing to the prevalence of scandals in prison.
