This paper compares and contrast how the Persian, Roman, Mongol, and Inca empires used infrastructure in building or maintaining their power. It answers questions like, what are the similarities and differences? How is infrastructure paid for, staffed, or otherwise maintained? The Inca Road system, is also regarded as the royal highway or qhapaq an, established a network that became an integral feature of the Inca empire. Armies, people, and products could travel through plains, mountains, and canyons thanks to roads. They served as a tangible emblem of imperial influence and power, connecting villages and administrative centers. Many Inca roadways had bridges, overpasses, and stairways, that were well-built and long-lasting. Llamas and alpacas were also employed to transport products around the empire and facilitate trade. Roads, bridges, and other infrastructure made it simpler to transport and communicate in order to manage the large empire. Messages were transported across the Inca civilization by runners known as chasquis.
The Romans constructed new routes to connect conquered regions to Rome and create colonies in them.
