KEY COMPONENTS OF A SERVICE PLAN
In the laws of the United States of America within a speculated period of 45 days after a case is opened for family-based safety services or family unification services, the Department of Family and protective Services’ must establish a detailed service plan for the family in the case. Our case being Lisa Steinberg who succumbed to brain injuries; his illegally adopted father, lawyer Joel B. Steinberg was accused of beating her to death. In any case Lisa Steinberg was still alive, her family would have a service plan whose main components I have discussed below.
The written service plan must clearly detail the reasons why the CPS is involved with the family. The CPS is a government agency which is responsible for providing child protection. Often when the CPS involves with the family it helps the family to solve its problems and in some cases emergencies. The CPS assigns a social worker who will help the family and who will also be investigating about the abuse. The reasons of CPS involvement with the family include; community protection, child protection from abuse and neglect and lastly the CPS social worker will spend some time in the home developing a safety plan and also making recommendations affecting the whole family.
