Organizational Management Role, Style & Approach Management refers to the process of using organizational resources in an effective and efficient manner towards achieving given goals and objectives within an organization. The objectives and goals are executed through the functions of controlling, leading, organizing and planning while utilizing informational, financial, material and human resources. Managers execute informational, decisional and interpersonal management roles as activities linked with their particular occupation. Different management approaches exist such as contingency perspectives, quantitative, and systems approach. Additionally, different managers use different management styles as their method of leadership such as authoritarian, consultative, persuasive, democratic, chaotic, laissez-faire etc. This paper is thus an article review of the effectiveness of the current management system in Tesla, Inc., while describing the management role, style or approach. Tesla is an energy and transportation solutions company which adopts a corporate structure in order to facilitate a widespread organization control. The current manager of Tesla, Elon Musk has adopted an effective leadership which is dependent on the organizational structure (Tesla Inc., 2018). The corporate structure in Tesla Inc. defines a certain pattern of interactions among the organizational components in a way that considers a good managerial focus. The manager in Tesla Inc. executes all the three managerial roles in a centralized form of leadership including the decisional, informational and interpersonal roles. The implementation of the right strategies right on time has made the company sail far in terms of business improvement and growth. The organizational structure of Tesla Inc. reflects a highly interactive leadership which has made big strides in managing operational accomplishments. The managerial roles are executed in a centralized manner where decisions and managerial control of the entire company is executed from a central team of managers which generates authority. The global hierarchy office heads form the central corporate team which executes total control over all company operations. The informational roles of the central team involve receiving and releasing information with a free flow of filtered information through the internet. The middle managers as well help to skillfully determine the quantity and type of information that trickles down the structure. The top manager, Elon Musk executes the entrepreneurial type of decision making role via the identification of economic opportunities, making product decisions and leading the change initiative. Tesla’s managerial approach could be described as to have adopted the historical method of classical management approach (Furnham, 2009). The scientific approach of Fredrick Taylor is evident since Tesla has an administrative hierarchy to control the entire organization. Managers use this approach in Tesla Inc. to determine the best methods of completing given tasks in the most cost-effective and beneficial way. Managers and other employees are able to cooperate with each other based on this approach. Additionally, the 14 principles of management by Fayol such as unity of direction and division of labor which comes with different departments such as sales, operations, research and development has helped the company to stabilize in its productivity activities. The company is Lean Six Sigma at its best where they try to constantly improve efficiency by hiring expert engineers who control efficiency to add reasonable value to Tesla products.
