DEFINITIONS
A catalogue is a list of anything that can answer to many questions eg. Shopping list, chores and what one wants to achieve that day qualifies to a catalogue
LIBRARY CATALOGUE
Is a list of books and other literary items in a particular library or collection arranged in a systematic and recognized order so that any one particular item can be traced in the shortest time possible.
These are records that describe bibliographic content of a library or group of libraries.
The library catalogue consists of bibliographic records (catalogue records) which are created by means of the cataloguing process. I.e the library catalogue is the end result of the cataloguing process.
It follows that without a list in a systematic or particular order it cannot be described as a library catalogue. Systematization is paramount in a library catalogue.
A catalogue gives descriptive details of a title/s in a library collection for easy retrieval and access.
A catalogues brings order in a library since the information resources are systematically organized in a comprehensive order.
