Management and Leadership Name Institution Course Date Management and Leadership For the position based leadership, my score was 2, showing a more balanced form of leadership. According to the textbook, the P score is a representation of position-based leadership where the leader takes responsibility and authority over the group for organizational success. A score of two shows a neutral stance where the leader does not assume all the roles but rather gives other members of the group the chance to have an input in the organizational proceedings. The nonhierarchical score on the other hand had a score of 2 also depicting a neutral stance on the leadership approach. The implication will be that though employees have a greater say, the leader will at times be forced to take control of things whenever some issues arise. Moving to a new organization with a different supervisor, my expectations will be that the leader will take control over the employees while still giving them the chance to make some of the decisions on their behalf. This follows the approach of transformational leadership where the aim is to help employees grow with the organization as they harness their skills. CEOs and Leadership Styles The four CEOs that I will be looking at today include; Tim Cook of Apple, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices, and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta. They are known for their roles in some of the leading companies in the country that have shaped the American economy in the 21st century. Their leadership styles are; Tim Cook – he is a nonhierarchical leader and fosters cooperation between employees. Jeff Bezos – he is a hands on type of leader and thus follows the position based approach. Mark Zuckerberg – he is a transformational leader following the nonhierarchical approach. Lisa Su – she seeks to empower employees and thus hers is a nonhierarchical based approach. Changes in Organizations’ leadership since 2010 According to Ford (2021) organizational leadership has experienced radical changes since 2010 owing to various reasons. On the one hand, the digital migration where most of organizational tasks are carried out online has seen the need to give employees space to work remotely. Leaders have to therefore ensure they link with their subordinates virtually to check up on progress of most of the tasks. The changes in the generational workforce especially with the entry of the Gen Z in the workforce is another force that has impacted on leadership. Millennials and generation Z has some expectations from their leaders that are different from the traditional methods of leadership. They want more independence and involvement in the running of organizational business as argued by Ford (2021). Reasons for current changes Change is inevitable and gradual and affects organizational operations in various ways. On the one hand, globalization has greatly impacted on the leadership approaches by most organizations in the modern world. Ford (2021) noted that the abrupt changes in the world have enhanced the complexity of workplace interactions requiring a redefined comprehension and approach to leadership. Due to the ever changing leadership roles at all levels of management, there has been the need for leaders to remain open to new realities as dictated by both internal and external organizational factors. This has prompted the need for leaders to remain open to new changes within the work environment requiring constant adjustment of leadership approaches to meet organizational and employee needs. Part 3 The intersection between organizational structures, management processes and the CEOs leadership style are critical in the overall organizational performance. The three aspects of organizational performance intersect and determine the financial position of the organization as they affect the internal environment and in turn employee performance. In a flatter team based organization, the employees are provided with the requisite resources for their performance (Ford, 2021). This requires a leadership that understands the employee need and pushes for decisions that will ensure these resources are allocated. Leadership will still be influential as the organization as they oversee how employees put the resources into use. The move towards virtual organizations can be explained through Jeff Bezos’ Amazon company. The leadership must anticipate the future and make decisions that are future oriented putting to consideration the fact that the world is going the digital way. And with an increase in workforce diversity, I believe that the most suitable leadership is democratic type of leadership. This is an approach where employees are allowed to participate fully in the decision making process. This gives al...
