Rational Decision-Making vs the Incremental Model of Decision-Making Decision-making I pivotal in any set-up as it defines interactions between different parties and determines how individuals pursue certain activities. The choice of a decision-making model highly depends on the context and the essence of the decision. Koziol-Nadolna & Beyer (2021) insist that decision-making can instigate the success or failure of an institution, thereby undermining the essence of effective decision-making models. Rational decision-making primarily depends on the actualization of a set of procedures and the use of logic to determine the most effective decision while the incremental model of decision-making contrasts with the former in that it entails making simultaneous small decisions rather than one huge decision. Rational decision-making encompasses a broad and more comprehensive look at a situation before coming up with the most appropriate decision going forward. Rational decision-making depends on logic and objectivity. Therefore, individuals look at the entire scenario and the facts before determining the best way to approach the situation. Rational decision-making seeks to overcome biases that are more susceptible in humans and offer a rational and more logical approach to resolving issues (Manohar et al., 2021). In contrast, the incremental model of decision-making enacts gradual decisions on specific issues. Rather than looking at the whole scenario, the model seeks to resolve one thing at a time.
