Staffing, in one way or another, determines the success of an organization. Adopting poor staffing strategies translates to a poor workforce which in turn results in reduced productivity in the firm. As such, a good staffing strategy should consider some important factors such as the retiring workforce and the sustainability of the organization to be fruitful.
Statistical projection is one of the most viable staffing strategies that can be used to ensure sustainability and keep in check the impact of an aging workforce. In using this strategy, the organization develops or purchases research data about its current workforce and the different roles played by the employees. Such information helps the organization to identify gaps and evaluate its succession plans by considering the current tenures of the employees ("Different Types of Staffing Plans," 2011). Additionally, the statistical projections help in the formulation of replacement plans for the employees approaching retirement as well as ensuring sustainability in the firm by recruiting the right people to fill the present gaps.
