Anger refers to a state of emotion that is characterized by either rage, fury or just but a mere irritation towards someone, something or an event. People express their anger through different ways which include expression, suppression and calming down. In moments of anger its best for everybody if one chooses to express their anger in an assertive way and not an overly aggressive way in order to avoid incidences whereby it leads to people hurting the feelings of others. Anger management as a tool should be best utilized to reduce the feelings and the arousal brought about by anger and it can be achieved through the following ways:
Cognitive change.
This is a simple tool and it simply means changing one's thoughts. People tend to curse swear and speak up insults when they are angry but instead, they should try to replace their thoughts of anger with more meaningful thoughts (Elwood, Soper & Olatunji. 2015). When people are angry they tend to overly focus on the frustrations they go through and they constantly say that something is awful, terrible, or it is entirely ruined and this leads to the outbursts that are accompanied by anger (Down, Willner & Griffiths. 2011). A mind change is necessary and one should console themselves that even though something is frustrating and unchangeable it`s not the end of the world and getting upset about it won`t fix it anyhow.
