Drug and alcohol abuse continues to pose a significant challenge for most colleges globally. The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 reports that more than 40% of the youths are drugs users. However, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime estimates that nearly 2.5 million individuals die annually due to consumption of these drugs (Cappelli et al., 2016). As such, the youth needs to know how they should avoid drugs and all the consequences related to drugs. This essay aims at outlining the ways through which the youth abuse drugs and how this habit is harmful to both their physical, economic, social, and mental health.
Most students in colleges and high schools abuse get convinced into using hard drugs through some philosophy that do not hold water. Some believe that these substances help in the learning process while others feel that all drugs are medical. However, after using these drugs, they suffer more than the hallucinations they gain from the drugs.
