Depression or major depressive disorder is a common medical illness that affects how individual acts, think, or feels. A depressed individual will not take part in activities that they once found enjoyable and also causes feelings of sadness (Asen and Jones, 2018). According to the (CDC) individuals over the age of twelve years’ experience depression over any two weeks. Moreover, globally, three hundred and fifty million people are affected by depression. These facts show how disease is a major pandemic.
Diagnosis is specific to individual psychological evaluation and symptoms. Doctors will conduct physical examinations, and several blood-works to check for any apparent physical causes or coexisting conditions; this is because vitamin D deficiency and thyroid problems might trigger symptoms of depression. Through the Hamilton depression rating scale, doctors use a series of twenty-one questions where the result scores illustrate the extent of the disease (Chukhraev et al., 2017). The Hamilton test is one of the most popular methods of detecting depression by doctors.
