• For your paper requirement for social psychology, you will be writing about and analyzing your own personal experiences with discrimination. Your paper will consist of THREE (3) key parts:
Part I – Personal Experience Being Discriminated Against: Tell me a story about a time in your life when you were the victim of discrimination.
Part II – Personal Experience Discriminating Against Others: Tell me a story about a time in your life when you discriminated against someone else.
Please note that we have all discriminated against others at some point in our lives, so saying that you never have is NOT an acceptable response for this section of your paper.
Part III – Social Psychological Analysis of Your Discrimination Experiences: Based on what you wrote in the first two parts of your paper, and relying upon the theories and concepts covered in Social Psychology. what does the field of social psychology have to say about your personal experiences with discrimination?
Questions to address in this section of your paper can include (but are certainly not limited to): Why were you discriminated against? Why did you discriminate against others? Why do people engage in prejudice, stereotypes and/or discrimination against each other? What can be done to reduce prejudice, stereotypes and/or discrimination in the future? What can you personally do to reduce discriminatory behavior in your own life?
Please note that in this section of your paper you MUST include at least THREE (3) distinct social psychological concepts, key terms and/or theories in your analysis of your own personal experiences with discrimination. (USE THE TEXT BOOK & NOTES PROVIDED FOR REFERENCE)
Your paper MUST meet all of the following criteria:
Your paper must be typed.
Your paper must be at least seven pages long (a title page and at least two full pages of text for each of the three sections).
Your paper must be double-spaced and use a common 12-point font (i.e. Times New Roman, Arial, Courier, etc.).
Your paper must have 1” margins on all sides.
All three parts of your paper must be presented in a narrative format.
The three parts of your paper must be clearly delineated from each other with separate headings.
Your paper is worth 100 points, and will be graded as follows:
Ability to follow instructions = 15 points.
Lateness is considered “not following instructions” and will impact this portion of your grade accordingly.
Quality of Presentation = 10 points.
Make your paper look nice – Use of images, charts, color, etc. are all strongly encouraged. Please note that images will NOT count toward the required length of your paper (i.e., if I remove the images you should still have 2 full pages of text for each section).

This project will be a non-clinical case based on my observations of Suhail's vignette, which will be due on Monday. According to numerous academics' assessments on how aspects such as culture, ethnicity, gender, and religion would likely impact the Suhail therapy process, the objective of this article is to address all of the needed discussion issues. Suhail also struggles with his schoolwork, family troubles, gender identity, and gay impulses, as well as the culture in which he grew up, all of which call into question his way of life and put him in danger(Şafak-Ayvazoğlu et al., 2021). 'Suhail' is a university student who was sent to have his attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder assessed in order to determine whether or not he is qualified for accommodations (ADHD). For as long as he has been in the United States, Suhail has struggled with his academic obligations. He has been having difficulties with his studies, and as a result, he has come under fire from the other guys in the family. Even though Suhail's family is unaware, he has been dealing with issues of gender identity as well as gay desires. His family is unaware of this since it has been kept a secret, and they believe he is just suffering from ADHD. Because of this, Suhail's family believes that seeing a psychologist in the U. S. is the best way to deal with the situation, and he has been guaranteed that it would remain confidential.
Diversity Issues Related to Race, Gender, Ageism, etc
Cultural identity in Syria has a significant influence on our community and on our emotional wellbeing, as well as on our economic well-being. Despite the fact that our cultural heritage is defined by our ethnicity, it is also significantly influenced by factors such as socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, migration, location, gender, oppression, racism, sexual orientation, and dynamics (Şafak-Ayvazoğlu et al., 2021). It has been too much for Suhail since it has been difficult for him, and he is unable to cope with the stress. He has been coping with challenges related to his schooling, and he has been the object of criticism from the male members of his family. Suhail's mother has become more protective of him. Suhail is struggling with his gender identification, and he has also been wrestling with gay impulses, which his family is completely unaware of at this time. This sort of action would not be tolerated in the culture in which Suhail grew up. Neither his parents nor his siblings would ever approve of this kind of lifestyle. A considerable proportion of immigrant Arab families, according to (Şafak-Ayvazoğlu et al., 2021), struggle with the issue of sexuality since it is not a pleasant subject to discuss freely with their children and parents. It is possible to impose disgrace on a family by engaging in inappropriate sexual activity; this is particularly true with homosexuals.
Suhail's family is now doubting his talents as a result of his struggles with ADHD. He comes from a wealthy family, and for him to be suffering with his schooling will lead his abilities to be called into question as a result. Suhail's family has been kept in the dark about his troubles for a long time, and now he is going to confront them head on, as he explains. In the opinion of Şafak-Ayvazoğlu et al. Suhail is likely to inform his mother first since the children will likely spend more time with her and are more likely to open up with her, at times utilizing her as a messenger or go-between with their father ( 2021.
According to Suhail's culture, it is not appropriate to seek treatment from a psychologist for his condition. As a psychotherapist, one must be aware of the difficulties that may arise as a result of the circumstance that Suhail is now experiencing. Clients will benefit from your guidance in making life decisions that align with their cultural beliefs.
Systemic Modality of Therapy
In the beginning, I would finish few sessions with Suhail in order to assist him in confronting his issues. Suhail is undergoing individual treatment because he is experiencing difficulties in his personal and family life. Initially, I would deal with his personal difficulties to ensure that he felt comfortable speaking with me, and then I would go on to family issues.
I will begin working with Suhail and his parents on a family therapy level as soon as he is ready to speak about the issues in the family. Afterwards, Suhail will be permitted to speak candidly with his parents about all of the issues with which he has been struggling. After Suhail has successfully overcome the challenges of his ADHD, I would suggest him to a professional who specializes in gender issues, namely those relating to homosexuality and LGBT issues (Varghese et al., 2020). If I do this on the client's behalf, he will be able to get the therapy that he needs to help him deal with the challenges that he is now experiencing. Suhail will then be able to recuperate and get the finest care possible, allowing him to lead a natural and healthy life to the fullest of his abilities.

Law and Ethics
Family and marriage counselors are held to the standards set out by the “American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy” (AAMFT) Code of Ethics. The practice of marital and family counseling is governed by the law and ethical principles. Family and marriage counselors must consider the Code of Ethics of the AAMFT as well as relevant laws and regulations when making professional choices (Varghese et al., 2020). The case study of Suhail, who is from a different ethnic group and culture than ourselves, raises ethical concerns about prejudice. According to AAMFT without regard to race, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, gender, health status, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status" . Suhail and his family will receive family therapy, and because they speak a variety of different Languages (their first language is Syrian), it is the Marriage Family Therapy's responsibility to "ensure that they have the adequate informed consent form in order to be able to provide counselling or relevant requirements and use language which the client understands" ( AAMFT ,2015). As a therapist, it is the therapist's responsibility to not only abide by the law, but also to make known their adherence to the AAMFT Code of Conduct and to take the appropriate measures to settle the problem in a responsible way. The AAMFT supports the establishment of a legislative framework for reporting suspected unethical business practices.
According to Navigating ADHD (2017)by providing environmental safety for the process, the psychotherapist is also helping to the development of the therapeutic alliance and relational involvement. As a result, I would continue to work on the "Customer Type Relationship," with clear boundaries and openness established, and on collaborative goals and solutions, which would be determined by the end of the assessment phase. Preparation for the first assessment, establishing clear and concise contact, being an attentive listener, displaying empathy, and concentrating on the client are some of the factors to consider (Varghese et al., 2020).
Early-stage objectives: Establish rapport; establish joint goals; emphasize the decrease of ADHD symptoms via the promotion of personality tools and procedures; include the institutional stakeholder and, if required, refer to a speech-language pathologist (SLP) .
