3 year old Paul has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has exhibited delayed speaking and his parents have admitted him to an intervention school. Paul has had a history of communication problems, lack of social interaction and uncommon behavior which are ASD symptoms (Joseph etal. 2015). His education needs are different from those of normal children and he definitely requires special attention to get him to function normally. According to the human ecology theory, the interactions between humans and their environment shape who we are and who we become (Dyball, Newell, 2015). Genetically, Paul’s family has had no history of autism. For optimal psychological growth, Paul would need an understanding and supportive social environment.
