Obesity often starts at a young age; does this at all affect the students’ intelligence or school performance?
Child obesity is a problem that is always associated with many psychological problems (Santana, Hill, Azevedo, Gunnarsdottir, & Prado, 2017). Self-esteem is one big problem associated with a child being obese. Kids always tend to be too hyper-sensitive about how they do compare to other fellow kids, a situation that deprives them self-consciousness, and consequential loneliness. Nobody can ever succeed in any endeavors if they are alone, and that directly translates to that of a lonely child in the class. He/she will always feel that distance, that guilt, that lack of togetherness, that lack of self-expression, and they will definitely want to keep their issues to themselves. Therefore, child obesity directly influences their level of academic brilliance as pointed out by Tang, (2014).
