Priorities change with age. While people of different ages have almost similar life goals, the level of attention and effort put in their pursuit changes as they age. Santrock (2019) explains that work received the highest priority for individuals aged between 25 and 34 years. At the same time, the family became the central area of focus for people aged between 35 and 54 years. Individuals whose age was between 55 and 65 years also put significant personal investment on the family. It is important to note that among the younger generation, family ranks low in the order of priorities. It comes behind friends and only wins against independence. Thus, an important lesson the younger generation can learn from adults in the late-life stage is to build family relations in their lives. The younger generation should consider marriage as the foundation for family relations on which they will rely later in life.
