The paper begins by introducing PTSD and the ways in which it is developed. The report also explores the major causes and effects that it has on individuals. The effects are depression, nightmares, sleepless nights, and social avoidance. The causes are determined as development related. The groups that are likely to be affected are then discussed. These groups include the military combat officials, victims of abuse, and domestic violence. The common treatments were identified. These treatments are cognitive therapy, exposure therapy, and use of antidepressant medication. Later, substance abuse is defined and the signs that show an individual are affected. The common signs are portrayed in the physical, behavioral, and psychological aspects. Finally, the common treatments for SUD are identified. These treatments are similar to those of PTSD.
