Reflective Essay: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou’s, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings has an intuitive value to developmental psychology. It is a book that helps the readers to understand and transcend facts with truth throughout their life. It calls for an in-depth discernment of every situation and circumstance that an individual can meet in their lives and creates a better avenue on what approaches and techniques are most suitable in approaching them (Jayasree., 41). The primary value of developmental psychology is the virtue of enabling humans to understand, learn, mature and adapt to their environment. By focusing on evaluating and reflecting on the circumstances that face them, developmental psychology enables a deeper insight into finding the most suitable solutions about the challenges that face people on a daily basis (Muhammed.,189). This is the same focus of Maya in the novel and therefore the intention is to educate people on how to identify and navigate through daily life issues.
