An individual’s mental health is of utmost significance as it helps in maintaining a person’s well-being, interpersonal and family relationships, as well as their capacity to make meaningful contributions to the society (ADAA, 2020). A mentally healthy person can maintain fulfilling relationships, engage in productive activities, and adequately cope with different challenges in life. Mental disorders cause distress and impair a person’s effective functioning due to changes in behavior, mood, or thinking, which may result in acquired disabilities, pain, or death (Leitch, 2017). This paper discusses the mental health objectives affecting my community, the correlation of mental and physical health, and how trauma assisted care can be applied to a child.
Prevalent Mental Health Disorders in the Community
The objectives of choice are MHMD1 which focuses on the reduction of the suicide rate, and MHMD4 that involves reduction of the number of people who undergo major depressive episodes (MDEs) in the society or community (ADAA, 2020).
