Mental Health Disorders: Prevention, and Treatment Mechanisms
An individual’s mental health is of utmost significance as it helps in maintaining a person’s well-being, interpersonal and family relationships, as well as their capacity to make meaningful contributions to the society (ADAA, 2020). A mentally healthy person can maintain fulfilling relationships, engage in productive activities, and adequately cope with different challenges in life. Mental disorders cause distress and impair a person’s effective functioning due to changes in behavior, mood, or thinking, which may result in acquired disabilities, pain, or death (Leitch, 2017). This paper discusses the mental health objectives affecting my community, the correlation of mental and physical health, and how trauma assisted care can be applied to a child.
