Jesus Christ died on the cross to save mankind; his death is a demonstration of love for us humans. As it is recorded in the books of Matthew, Luke, Mark, and John; in the New Testament, Jesus was not loved, he was mocked, betrayed, and tortured in the praetorium. Pontius Pilate condemned Jesus to death, and, was hung between two common criminals. The last seven words of Jesus as recorder in the Holy bible are; “Father, Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” found in the book of Luke Chapter 23 verse 34. His word was out of sympathy to those who condemned and confronted him like the three soldiers who nailed him on the cross. What Jesus meant is that, He was the Lord, the son of the Almighty, he was doing everything to save humanity from falling unto the wedge of death, they did not know that Jesus was sacrificing his life for them to gain eternal life. Before his death, Jesus said that it is finished (Johns 19 verse 30), this means that his sacrifices and his pain were finished. Finally, after the torture and mockery, Jesus Cries and looked up at the sky and said “ Father, unto your hands I commend my spirit” he closes his eyes and dies. These words are recorded in the Gospel of Luke and it is directed to the Almighty in Heaven (Duval et al., 2012).
