Human trafficking is the trading of human beings for sexual trade, slavery, or forced labor. Human trafficking happens to both children and adults. The illegal trade has a diverse effect on the different players both directly or indirectly. The parties include victims, the criminal gangs, the government, the families, the economy, and the law enforcement agencies. In the Southeastern Asian region (ASEAN), human trafficking is a serious problem. The situation is so bad that there is the involvement of international organizations to help curb and solve the existing problems. Solutions do not come easy and each solution comes with a unique problem. Human trafficking ranges from children to adult trafficking. The reason for trafficking could be for labor, prostitution, forced marriages, war, and cheap labor to mention a few (Shelley, 2010).
