Positive Effects of Caffeine Consumption
Caffeine, an ingenious stimulant, is mostly present in tea and coffee. It does not provide any nutritional value on its own and is difficult to detect via taste because it is tasteless. Caffeine always induces some symptoms whether taken in beverages or foods. According to Caldwell & Harris 2016, low caffeine (0.5 mg per kg or 40 mg) and moderate caffeine (4mg per kg or 300 mg) levels of consumption result to improved cognitive functions like alertness. The effectiveness of caffeine is achieved through the blockage of adenosine receptors thus improving physical and cognitive functions by suppressing sleep (Cho, 2018). A review done on existing literature in 2019 found that moderate consumption of caffeine provides a protective implication against health conditions like liver cancer, stroke, cardiovascular, and type 2 diabetes.
