Cultural capital refers to the knowledge, education skills, ideas, and advantages that people perceive concerning their social life, which sets them higher than other members of society. This creates differences in the social and economic status of the class agenda achieved through a cycle. Individuals must therefore, undergo a screening process of interests and activities to identify their career capital. Humans do not have control over cultural capital, as it is an attribute handed down in families. My identity concerning gender, religion, citizenship experience, language, and social class has enhanced my social capital in society.
Bourdieu (1986) identifies social, economy, and culture as the three generic capital present in society. This highlights the recognition and perceptions of people in the social context while enforcing legitimization. Cultural capital is used in analyzing the class system identifying how the dominant ideologies and aesthetics have been maintained from one generation to the next. Bourdieu argues that the world does not tolerate the game of chances or equal opportunity without competition, hence the society experiences the highest form of inequality manifested through gender, race, color, and wealth.
