This paper analyzes whether reality shows are authentic in revealing culture for a multilingual community. Generally, reality shows might not require a great sense of creativity or expensive casts since the actors live their real lives but decide to make it public. The Survivor reality show is one of the greatest shows on televisions across the world and brings out a different perception of culture. The way culture is presented through the media tends to bring out a false sense of community since actors act according to vicarious experience instead of shared experience that would create a true sense of community.

Culture gets different perceptions when media is involved in developing or bringing out certain ideas about it. One of the most common ways through which culture comes out is through the use of reality shows that have become common on television screens worldwide. Generally, reality shows might not require a great sense of creativity or expensive casts since the actors live their real lives but decide to make it public. The Survivor reality show is one of the greatest shows on televisions across the world and brings out a different perception of culture. The way culture is presented through the media tends to bring out a false sense of community since actors act according to vicarious experience instead of shared experience that would create a true sense of community.
Over the years, the definition of the culture has been taken to represent people with a history of a deeper connection than a mere illusion of shared traits. That definition has, however, changed with the inclusion of media to present culture (Brashear 34). People have created virtual cultures over the media that can be seen as creating a global community. Generally, it is easier than in the past to refer to an individual as a world citizen. However, the representation of a virtual culture does not represent what would ideally be referred to as a community. People who have a similar way of solving problems cannot just be referred to as a community because circumstances and not the original culture could trigger that.
