A Corp B Certified Corporation
A Corp B certified corporation is an organization that has ensured that it has complied with all the regulations that provide an effective production process that does not have a negative impact on the lives of individuals within the community. (DEFINING CITIZENSHIP AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, n.d.) It is the organization's responsibility to ensure that they maintain a productive relationship with the members of the community. Some of the major ways an organization can ensure a productive relationship with the community is by participating in community development initiatives that will help elevate individuals' living standards within society. Community development initiatives include practices such as Corporate Social Responsibilities.
One of the major economic impacts of ensuring that your organization is a corporation is that the organization will enjoy a good relationship with the government. An organization that helps ensure that they have a positive impact in the lives of the general public is considered an organization that is helping the government achieve its goals of providing the general public with proper living standards within society. Such organizations enjoy more favors from the government, such as being given tax holidays and getting grants from the government to support their operational process. Such favors from the government have a great impact on the economic aspects of the organization.
The social impact of ensuring that your organization is a B Corporation is that it helps in reducing or doing away with the amounts of conflicts between the community members and the organizations within our societies. An organization that is ignorant and does not consider the negative impacts of their production services to society's people. There will be more resistance from the social scene towards the organization's product. There will also be resistance and confrontations from the relevant authorities, affecting their operations within society. Society will also develop a negative attitude towards the products of the organization, which will affect the profitability of the organization.
Some of the major environmental factors that are majorly related to B corporations include waste disposal. Organizations that use poor waste disposal procedures and methods end up having a negative impact on the environment. The major poor waste disposal practices from most organizations that are not B-certified corporations include waste disposal into the nearby water bodies and poor gas emission into the air. Waste disposal into the natural water resources such as rivers and lakes affects the aquatic life and human beings who utilize the water and food from the water bodies. The emission of toxic gas into the atmosphere has also brought about the development of various breathing complications to individuals around the community.
Tool for effective community development
* ensuring effective research on the impacts of political, social, and economic environments on the community.
Community development requires an appropriate study of the community from different aspects. Some of the major elements that affect the community are grouped into political, economic, and social factors. As the team leader that aims to identify the assets and needs of a given society, I will encourage my team members to ensure that they understand the community's political, economic, and social aspects. This procedure will enable us to understand the root cause of different demerits they face and adopt an appropriate initiative to ensure that the issues are properly mitigated.
Having a clear understanding of the community's political environment will enable us to understand the political environment's positive and negative impacts. Our team will be able to understand the measures to undertake to ensure that the degree of the impacts of political instability is reduced. Having a clear understanding of the community's social aspect will also enable us to be aware of the cultural orientations of the individuals living within society. Cultural practices include aspects such as religion. Identifying the cultural diversity of the individuals within the community will also enable our team to conduct different community development initiatives without causing cultural conflicts with society's members.
Another major aspect that I will ensure that we consider is the economic aspect of the community members. The main objective of carrying out community development is to elevate the community's living standards. The economic environment includes the conditions of the markets and different forms of economic activities. This tool will enable our team to identify the different types of support that the community members require to ensure a productive business environment for the community members. Some of the major initiatives that community development agencies can undertake to ensure a productive, economic environment for effective community development include developing the transport and communication network to favor business activities.
This tool can be used as a topic for future competitions to identify the impacts of political, economic, and social environment on community development initiatives. (Olbrecht, 2015)
* Encouraging Community Member Participation
Community development processes will only be successful if there is adequate community member participation in the initiative. The community members are the only individuals who are in the proper position to express their grievances and the initiatives that can be undertaken to ensure that the major issues are effectively mitigated. I will ensure that my team includes the community members in all the stages of community development to ensure that all the processes are for the community's benefit. Encouraging community member participation will also help in reducing societal resistance because the community members will feel neglected.
Another major importance of ensuring community member participation in all the stages of community development is to ensure that the members are getting educated and acquiring new skills that will enable them to maintain a good standard of living within society. Community member engagement also allows the community members to understand the importance of involving all the community member
