Explain how we can increase the food production without increasing impacts on the global environment. (3 Marks)
Almost every country across the globe is making an effort to maximize food production, which is the key driver of environmental change. Therefore, with the growing population, the world requires to look for ways to increase crop production without damaging the environment. All regions of the world have a more significant proportion of people that are starving, 30 per cent is made of children who are under the age of 5 years. They are facing enduring health issues as well as growth impairment because of inadequate access to foods. Simultaneously, the world is dealing with the rising cases of obesity and overweight, which creates a double tragedy in the process of increasing production.
Tackling this developing crisis without damaging environment requires fundamental thinking from the output to the consumption end. First, lessening the environmental marks as a result of food production may be achieved by making food provisions more varied. Scientists have initiated a way to increase food production without hurting the environment. In the past five years, Chinese scientists have carried out experiments on over 100 fields in production of maize using inputs that match with the soil conditions (Sharma, 2015). They found out that food productions could be boosted by cutting dependence on chemicals by adopting the chemical-free technique. As well, if this technique is followed, it will assist reduce the environmental pollution.
