German is considered a global leader in industrial and technological sectors. It is the third largest importer and second largest exporter of goods in the world (Malik 2015) most of Germany has a temperament cyclic climate which is good for agriculture. It is considered one of the industrialized countries in the world owing to the large industrial production.
Agriculture contributes a small part in the German economy. It has sharply declined over the years and only contributes around 2% of the GDP. Despite the decline agricultural production has increased due to modern machinery and technological innovation. Potatoes and grain are the main agricultural products in German, though agricultural products vary from region to region (Mathijs & Swinnen, 2001). Attracted by better earnings, many farmers left for industrial and service sectors.
German specializes in production of complex goods and innovative technologies, mostly chemicals, automotive, mechanical and electrical engineering. It is considered the largest employer in industry with a record 965,000 jobs (Malik, 2015) over 20% of the investment and industry of German is in the electronic sector. The chemical industry is owned by the private sector mostly foreign companies. In comparison with other industrial nations such as the USA, Germany has a strong workforce and a larger output in terms of production.
