These people are bound together by a similar educational activity, religious activities, similar cultural practices or political activities. Social problems on the other hand are the negative conditions / factors that arise in a society and a particular people from the society view them as undesirable. These undesirable factors in the society have a remedy by a collective action from the general community. These factors can cause individual problems, societal or even worldwide problems. There are a number of these social problems and they include corruption, natural disasters, child abuse, diseases, environmental pollution, poverty, drug and substance abuse, tribalism, unemployment and gender inequality. These problems are interrelated which means one problem leads to the other for example tribalism leads to corruption and corruption can lead to unemployment and unemployment leads to poverty and hence drug and substance abuse causing diseases and child abuse.

of corruption. There are various forms of corruption in the society some include petty corruption which mostly involve taking and offering bribes. This form of corruption happens mostly in at
low levels and in public places such as schools, hospitals, public institutions, taxing and licensing institutions and authority. Another type of corruption is the high level corruption. This level of corruption is considered as grand and occurs often at the top most authority, where decisions are made. Corruption deprives people from getting what they rightfully deserve as a society, poor leadership hence leading to mismanagement of resources. Furthermore corruption has led to unequal distribution of resources in the country. Corruption has led to so many insecurities in Kenya such as food insecurity, political insecurities, assassination of leaders and other socially immoral activities. In addition, statistics show that Kenya as a country is on of te most corrupt nations in Africa. Corruption can be dealt with from the lower levels to the upper or grand levels. Poverty is the state of being poor and not being able to live according to the standard required for a minimal person. In Kenya a poor person is considered to be one who lives under one dollar per day. Though considered as a social problem, others view poverty as personal failings of an individual rather than structural problem facing the society at large. Poverty continues to be on the rise because since it serve in that poor people do work that otherwise might not be done by others who wouldn’t want to do them. Furthermore, social crimes include robbery, theft, rape and prostitution. Most social crimes are caused by poverty and unemployment. Researchers’ claim that incase of extinct of crime the rate of unemployment would rise. Since people like police men, judges, lawyers and law implementers mostly work because of the crime rates. Like poverty, crimes provide employment to individuals worldwide.
SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF SOCIETIES
Tribalism, religious conflicts and gender segregation
This is a form of societal problem that involves grouping of people according to their mother language, customary beliefs and ancestral backgrounds. Tribalism is one of the main social ill acing the Kenyan community as a whole. This is where someone wants to associate himself or herself with his or her tribe. This has led to unequal resource distribution resources since a leader or on in authority would like to only associate with the people he share a common mother language, customary beliefs or ancestral background with. The leaders invest the nation’s resources only to the areas they come from hence uneven development. In such a situation where there is lack of diversity; people in a country do not interact freely. Lack of diversity can also result in monotony in leadership. Poor choice of leaders since people choose leaders in accordance with tribal lines and underdevelopment. In one way or the other tribalism also leads to corruption and vice versa. Bad leaders are also chosen because we elect the leaders that we share a common ancestry with. Tribalism may also lead to another social problem that is unemployment. A high rate of unemployment amongst the youth is because of unemployment. Most youths with qualification cannot be employed by leaders who speak a different language with them. Another social problem is religious conflicts where individuals practicing one form of religious activities think that their practices are superior to the other. Gender segregation is where people in a community group themselves according to their sex. A gender sensitive society is a society that considers women as well as women to be equal. The society is full of gender in equality in that females are viewed to be subordinate in many dimensions in the political, economic and social nature.
