Furthermore corruption has led to unequal distribution of resources in the country. Corruption has led to so many insecurities in Kenya such as food insecurity, political insecurities, assassination of leaders and other socially immoral activities. In addition, statistics show that Kenya as a country is on of te most corrupt nations in Africa. Corruption can be dealt with from the lower levels to the upper or grand levels. Poverty is the state of being poor and not being able to live according to the standard required for a minimal person. In Kenya a poor person is considered to be one who lives under one dollar per day. Though considered as a social problem, others view poverty as personal failings of an individual rather than structural problem facing the society at large. Poverty continues to be on the rise because since it serve in that poor people do work that otherwise might not be done by others who wouldn’t want to do them. Furthermore, social crimes include robbery, theft, rape and prostitution. Most social crimes are caused by poverty and unemployment. Researchers’ claim that incase of extinct of crime the rate of unemployment would rise. Since people like police men, judges, lawyers and law implementers mostly work because of the crime rates. Tribalism, religious conflicts and gender segregation
This is a form of societal problem that involves grouping of people according to their mother language, customary beliefs and ancestral backgrounds. Tribalism is one of the main social ill acing the Kenyan community as a whole. This is where someone wants to associate himself or herself with his or her tribe. This has led to unequal resource distribution resources since a leader or on in authority would like to only associate with the people he share a common mother language, customary beliefs or ancestral background with. The leaders invest the nation’s resources only to the areas they come from hence uneven development. In such a situation where there is lack of diversity; people in a country do not interact freely. Lack of diversity can also result in monotony in leadership. Poor choice of leaders since people choose leaders in accordance with tribal lines and underdevelopment. In one way or the other tribalism also leads to corruption and vice versa. Bad leaders are also chosen because we elect the leaders that we share a common ancestry with. Tribalism may also lead to another social problem that is unemployment. A high rate of unemployment amongst the youth is because of unemployment. Most youths with qualification cannot be employed by leaders who speak a different language with them. Another social problem is religious conflicts where individuals practicing one form of religious activities think that their practices are superior to the other. Gender segregation is where people in a community group themselves according to their sex. A gender sensitive society is a society that considers women as well as women to be equal. The society is full of gender in equality in that females are viewed to be subordinate in many dimensions in the political, economic and social nature.
